This is a feed that caught my attention because of a post with a podcast about the English idiom:The Straw that Broke the Camel's Back. I listened and thought they did a good job of explaining the meaning and origin of the idiom. Speech was clearly enunciated and there was much repetition. These are characteristics that EFL's need in order to develop good listening skills, especially beginners. The podcast originates from Canada. You can find current pod-casts and archived pod-casts at esl.culips.com and subscribe on iTunes. Scripts of the pod-casts are available at the website, if you want students to read as well as listen. I will keep culips in mind for students who need extra listening activities. There are other topics as well, but under the "expressions" tab you will find numerous pod-casts about idiomatic expressions. Culips provides a great extra curricular listening activity for EFL/ESL instructors to use. Some of the topical pod-casts could also be used as conversation starters for classroom speaking activities.
